How much voltage does it take to power a white LED?

How much voltage does it take to power a white LED? What size resistance I need to convert from 3.0 VDC to that amount? Thanks

Most LEDs have a voltage drop between 2-3 volts. Whites are generally higher, about 3.5 volts. Since the LEDs should be driven through a resistor with a minimum of 2 volts across it (preferably by of 4 volts) requires a minimum of 6 volts to run a white LED. The resistance is determined by the voltage specifications on the screen, the battery voltage and stream. So with a 3.5 V LED, a battery of 6 volts and 20 mA current, R = (6-3.5) / .02 = 125 ohms PS, you can use a 3-volt battery In this case, and resistance can not increase the voltage.
