I take my family tent camping in an isolated area where ma can anyone help me?

My husband and I wanted to take our children tent because they have never been. We would like somewhere on a river and being retired I do not want to offend anyone. If there is somewhere we can have a few tents while two vehicles to be great, because a friend and his family would like to go. We wish it were in MA or NH any ideas?
