What can I do table decorations with bright lights?

I use a number of clear Christmas lights with a green cord. I want to do something is an element of the table above. Something in a bowl or jar? I need ideas of things they have seen or done yourself. There is a Christmas theme.

Source pot glass with a hole in the bottom for drainage, you can feed the cable out of this. Fill the pot with the light chain and selecting a non-combustible material to fill gaps eg large boulders. Alternatively vegetable garlands make great house candelabra center pieces or cubes of ice, etc. This has nothing to look festive as plants change with the seasons, for example, honeysuckle and Fushchia in summer, willow and daffodils in spring. You can intertwine the lights on the wreath to create a welcoming atmosphere for dinner.
