Small Space

To make a small space seem bigger you put in dark wood and wooden floors with walls of light to light?

I'm re-doing my floor, remove the want to install carpet and hardwood floors. I do not know if I should go with the darker woods like walnut or lighter woods such as maple. The space is relatively small, but with sloping ceilings. Approximately 500 square feet

The lighter color will give a feeling of openness but I think the darker color to the walls Stark will have a touch of elegance by maintaining the simple decoration to match.
