Hotels in Tibet
There are good hotels in big cities like Lhasa, Rigeze, Jiangmu, Nagqu, Linzhibayi and Shannanzhedang Tibet. They are not comparable with five star hotels in Beijing or Shanghai, of course. But the rooms are very clean and the services are not bad. Some small motels are good options too. Many tourists like these special and charming motels in Tibet. For example, the motel Balangxue Lhasa is remarkable and is named as "The Ten mountain motels the world. "

Other cities in Tibet have their own "Motel" as well. But these "Motel" are very simple and perhaps all that you can get from them is only a hard bed. The rooms are not so clean either. (20-30 RMB cost of one night).

(2). The sleeping bag is very useful if you are planning to visit the small towns Tibet. Sometimes it is not easy to find a motel to sleep in these areas. The Tibetan people will give you a hospital room if your car is not working. But it is only one bedroom (with nothing in it) and must bring your own sleeping bag.

Flights to Tibet
There are airlines connecting Lhasa, Tibet, directly to Chengdu, Chongqing, Xian, Beijing, Shanghai, Guangzhou, Cangdu and Jiademan. The Lhasa airport is called Lhasa Gongga Airport. China South West Airlines is running these airlines to Lhasa, the planes used here are the Boeing 737. (No major accidents occurred since the first flight to Lhasa, Tibet in 1956)

How to get plane tickets to Lhasa, Tibet:
If you are planning your trip to Lhasa, Tibet in July or August is not easy to get tickets to Lhasa from Chengdu, it is peak season for Tibet. Thousands of tourists come here during this time period each year. The best way to get tickets is to book your ticket through a travel agency in Chengdu. You have to pay additional fees for it. (A 30 RMB) In general, the airlines sell tickets from 5 to 7 days in advance in high season and will be too late if you only book your ticket 1 or 2 days earlier.
