How long the latest game consoles mail if you never use?

People sell things online like PS2, X BOX, PSP, and laptop computers they are a couple of years. But still sealed in box and never used. Basically, it has the functionality of the electronics wear over time, even if ever been used? If so, how long before it starts functionality wear?
