Metro Insulated

For nine months, is difficult to even broach the subject of one of the penthouse in Atlanta. It can be as hot as Georgia asphalt, "and and mostly, all permits such a secluded area of the house, alone most of the time. The issue is more acceptable than the winter rolls around, offering a nice level of heat to counteract the cold outside. But cold or hot, when was the last time I ventured there? We can not forget that part of the house as a prime area of years of temperature control throughout the year to the floors below.

And that's what I focus on. The truth of the matter is that many homes in the Atlanta metropolitan area has poor insulation, which is really a shame. It is a shame because in exchange for a relatively small amount of time and effort, the rewards are great in a short period of time. Put more briefly, to properly isolate you're saving on heating costs and air conditioning immediately.

My experience as a roofing contractor Atlanta area is that even if your attic has insulation, it is only in the roof and that is probably the fiber glass or cellulose that was flown in. If you look closely you will see that it is installed and lost much of its insulation value. The remedy is to spend some time in the moving some insulation around on your own or hire someone to do it. (If you choose to do so on their own, we recommend you wear appropriate clothing to protect the insulation - Latex gloves, eye protection, jeans and long sleeve shirts).

If the insulation has not spread and has deteriorated in recent years, may need new insulation. There are a couple of ways to determine whether they need new insulation. One is to go up there and make a visual inspection. Another is to take note whether it is AC / heating are having to work harder in the summer / winter times a year. If you notice these bills go up, then isolation can be the big culprit.

I recommend you do a check once a year ... along with control of ventilation and roofing issues you may have. This will keep things in check. And instead of "hold" the insulation you have now, why not explore new ways to save ... as insulation in other areas of the attic ... along the walls, etc? You may be able to save more of what I experienced.

And do not forget the progress of technology or insulating materials. There is a new product out now called polyurethane foam insulation from the roof and has double the insulation or "R" conventional insulation value is in the attic. It is applied on the surface of the roof under the roofing material. The benefit of this agreement is that I do not see (not to the detriment the aesthetics of the roof) and adds another level of insulation and savings. Other benefits, which lasts the entire life of the house and helps seal against leaks in the roof, which are inevitable with age of the roof. I recommend this option for homeowners who are considering a new roof.

The bottom line is this ... take stock of what is happening in your attic. It can be an expensive area if not controlled. On the contrary, is an area that can potentially save money if you never expected or anticipated savings.
