Magnifier Compass

At one point loss to remember what is important and what is not ... that the prospect of gain. The neighbors just lost her daughter in a car accident. In an instant, have changed their lives.

Since I left the trail, which was passed with the understanding of life today. We can not take anything for granted. At any time in our lives can be permanently altered. It put things in perspective for me.

The next morning, as I drove to work I have found ways to be a little ice - especially at intersections. As we stopped at the stop sign, the car behind me slid into the back of my car. I remember looking in the rearview mirror and the woman in the car behind me was very upset - putting their hands in a gesture to indicate that there was nothing I could do. Now, to add a some perspective, I have my new car very first. It has 4000 miles on it. Altima is a 2008 and I feel very blessed to have a luxury!

If it had been the day earlier, my first thought might have been, "oh no, my car again". However, with this recent reminder of what is important, my first reaction was to feel empathy and compassion for this woman. It could have happened to anyone.

I stopped and got out of my car. She did the same. As he approached me, was apologetic and obviously distressed. He quickly assured him that it was an accident and not surprising given the state of the roads. We evaluated the two cars - and no damage. I wished a good day and went back to my car.

It is refreshing to maintain perspective on the situation and appreciate the significance of my reaction. I was grateful no one was injured and insignificant that this incident has not been increased by a big test. It is my hope that this woman was able to feel and accept my empathy and compassion, and she had to her in her day.

If we look, we realize that something "special" every day ... could be that the first sip coffee in the morning, but that might be watching the birds at the feeder in the yard, possibly the way the snow covers everything and does sunlight shine, perhaps an unexpected phone call from an old friend, could be the kind of person who opened the door this morning, as you came to work with all their weapons, what about the sound of a laughing child or the baby's sleeping face, or maybe it's just the gift you give to others to keep things in perspective.

Invitation of instruction:

Do you remember how the specialty is in everyday life? What are you 'save' for a special occasion?

Live for today ... be aware of the specialty in the ordinary.
