Why most of the candy canes are sold in the U.S. on in Mexico?
In the U.S.: a look at any package sticks caramel, and is almost guaranteed to see "Made in Mexico." Why is this? Are there any economic benefit? Or is it the type of equipment used to make candy canes in Mexico? Thank you. I did a Google search for candy canes in Mexico, and an article appeared to suggest that the price of sugar may be a factor. Certainly, there is an economic reason. Here is the article: http://www.retailmerchandising.net/cbus/archives/0801/0801spg.asp
It's probably cheaper for them to Mexico because we pay our workers if we do here. So, yes, profit.
