Lithium batteries?
I see that the lithium batteries are available in sizes AA and AAA. Why not make them in sizes C and D? Thank you very much, CL
First, the technology within the AA and AAA 1.5 volt lithium is oriented towards products with high energy and are generally used for an extended period of time (such as MP3, digital cameras and handheld games). Typical applications using C and D batteries do not have the same profile of energy demand. Second, the AA and AAA represent over 60% of total market demand for the traditional size alkaline (AA, AAA, C, D and 9V). The AA and AAA into more devices, which means more sales opportunities (and more profit) for the manufacturer. The manufacturer will not make the batteries are not there devices for them. And finally, cost. A 4-pack of 1.5 V lithium AA up to 3 times more expensive than traditional alkaline. Most people are not willing to pay $ 6 for a 1.5-volt D cell to power your flashlight or toy when children could buy 4-D alkaline cells for the same price. At this point is cost prohibitive to have a C or D battery of 1.5 volts. A side note: there are 3.0 volt and 3.6 volt lithium batteries C and D available. Unfortunately, that tension is compatible with devices that require 1.5 volts out of the C or D battery.
