DIY LED torch light with 1 or 2 batteries.?

I'm trying to make a super bright LED flashlight with 1 or 2 batteries to operate a super LED bright. Light with 2 batteries are weak. May I know how to do their most intense. I noted that the LED lamp on the market also operates only with 2 batteries and they are really bright. May I ask what is the secret to do this? Is there a chip hidden there or super bright LED voltage required is less than the one I have?

Indeed, there is a power controller chip on the high energy (1 or 3 watts) LED flashlights. Basically it increases the voltage while current regulation for maximum brightness without burning the LED. Different LED colors using different binding materials and labor have different voltages, but LEDs work on today: we must control the flow within the specifications or the union will burn. The easiest way is with a series resistance but this gives very poor regulation and / or waste a lot of electric heating by resistance. An active circuit is the best - if you have enough voltage from a simple regulator works in progress (the LM117 makes a beauty) if the supply voltage is very low, a voltage converter and regulator circuit is necessary.
