How long can stay on target gas in a MSR fuel bottle?

How long before it has negative effects on the bottle or how long before the white gas goes wrong?

The gas will have no negative effect on the bottle itself, but the plastic that make of plugs and O-rings at the top of the plug end if not degrade in contact with white gas for long. Furthermore, after a long time white gas storage (3 + years), beginning slowly decay, becoming less clean burning and littering your stove more valves. If you needed to store over 5 years, I would say going to use and just pick some up before your trip, rather than requiring additional cleaning of the stove.
