How do I fix my remote key after it was in the washing machine?

I left my distance with the key in the wash. The key still works but not the distance, but still the light flashes on the remote control. And my little keychain flashlight also continues to run. I need to know if I should take it to the dealer or if there is a way to fix my car. The key is for a 2003 Subaru Forester
