Eureka Springs, Arkansas, is a small town just an hour drive from Branson, Missouri, the new capital of country music! Millions of visitors come to Eureka Springs to see the great Passion Play, P. Nutt and the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down, shopping, or just to say "I do".

Branson, Missouri has about 120 performances of music, and lots of Music Stars countries and call Branson home. However, many people do not realize they also has been a lot of country music stars here in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Did you know that Grand Old Opry star Johnny Russell built his theater here and performs six nights a week for many years? It is rumored that he also wrote the song "no reason now to go home", great success for Gene Watson at the theater, too.

David Frizzell recorded such hits as "You're the Reason God Made Oklahoma" and "I'm Gonna Hire a drunk Decorated My Home ", and in 1991, David also had his own show in Eureka Springs. Ray Charles played one of his shows last here and what a show that was! Merle Haggard and the Strangers was filmed in the city several times to sing me back home, along with Willie Nelson.

Eureka Springs, Arkansas, was also the home of Joe Don Rooney for a few years before making the move to Nashville in 1999. Joe Don made in the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down Theater before moving to Nashville. Working with Gary LeVox and Jay DeMarcus, Joe Don became the band's # 1 selling, "Rascal Flatts".
Doug Huffman is another great composer and drummer who worked at the Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down to 1990. He then went to join the rock band "Boston", one of my favorite rock bands of all time.

In addition to music success stories, there have been many movies filmed in Eureka Springs. The film "War Eagle" was filmed in our little town in the summer of 2006. The Ozark Mountain Hoe-Down performed a song in the film composers Leslie Randall Wright and George, also from the Hoe-Down, written specifically for the movie!

Missy Crider, now an actress in Hollywood, was in a show of country music here in the late 1980. Missy yet again from time to time, and in the life of times in our little town. This is not surprising that most of the stars who were here before they reach the big time! There is something in this town in the hills that never leaves your memory once you've been here. This small city not only attracts visitors and tourists, but the winner still considered celebrities Eureka Springs "home."

Therefore, if you come to Eureka Springs for a visit, see the show Ozark Mountain Hoedown, The Great Passion Play, shop, or say "yes" to the love of your life. Be sure to get an image with some of the people here - the next year may be the next big thing in country music, rock-n-roll, or screen of Hollywood!
