How can I make a double layer cake?

I'm making a birthday cake for a friend and I really want to do a double layer! They always look much better!

You need two round cake pans and pour your batter in the two platters instead of regular rectangular container. Once you are done, (and you can stick a toothpick in center comes out clean) set it to cool completely. Then set a layer and put some ice formation at the top to act as glue when you put the top layer. Then set the top layer of ice and carefully it. Piece of cake! lol
