What is the significance of gold (or white) loops of rope that some soldiers carry on their shoulders? Please,

Any hairy-a * sed squaddies there may be interested to know that this issue was placed by Yahoo in the section entitled "Beauty and Style: Fashion and Accessories!" As can be see that I changed to "Military" :-)



Or it can be agulets, ie a certain position, or an assistant to a flag officer.
