Is there a digital chip that reads in binary LED displays and digital outputs?

I realize this is a shot in the dark, but I'm looking to read the information binary of a microcontroller. Either a string of bits or 8-pin microcontroller each is a little number. Either works well. I need a chip you can read this information and take care of all the logic behind converting the binary number to an LED display. Any help or points would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, its called a display driver 7-segment! Octal and hex drivers are based all over the place, I have not even seen at Radio Shack at times!
