Orange LED blinks when the charger is plugged into the Samsung P1000 camera?

How do I charge the Samsung P1000? There is a small LED battery that is meant to be red when charging and turns green when completed. It worked fine until last week. when trying to load my camera an orange LED blinks continuously until I remove the charger. The camera does not charge and still not turn on. Why is this happening?

It appears a problem with the battery. ... Or maybe it is supposed to blink orange and red during charging when the battery is really flat, just a guess. leave it in for an hour or so and try again.
