The bright light of an LED flashlight can be an invaluable tool when on a camping or hunting trip, and a potential life saver in an emergency home or car. The power and effectiveness of these light sources has become incredibly popular around the world. How bright these lights become so popular? How does the flashlight bulb LED in practice? The science and practice have come together to create these new sources of light - which can only be a good idea to find out why.

What is an LED?

To understand how an LED flashlight that is important to understand what an LED light. LED stands for light emitting diode. It is a semiconductor diode that emits light when an electric current passes through it, as a simple circuit. This circuit produces electroluminescence, which can be infrared, visible or ultraviolet, and a number of different colors depending on the composition and state of the semiconductor material used. These lights are often very small, usually less than 1 mm. Manufacturers frequently add or special optical lenses for the chip to aid reflection, creating a powerful beam to the size of the bulb.

LED lights are embedded in a high impact epoxy, which makes them virtually indestructible and therefore ideal for handheld lights. No loose parts or any movement. LED lights also do not produce heat, which allows them to be used for long periods of time without the worry of burning.

Advantages of LED

Advantages of LED technology has determined that help highlight for the flashlight and the lamp of Service - visibility, intensity, color and efficiency.

Visibility

LED lights naturally emit high levels of light, called light intensity. This visibility is increased by the addition of chips to the encapsulation or the use of secondary optics for light delivery. For most LED flashlights or lanterns are a number of different light sources a single lens.

Intensity

The intensity of light is another characteristic of the LED lights. The light output varies depending on the type of chip and encapsulation being used. Although there is no industry standard for LED brightness or intensity, many manufacturers use terms such as "ultra-bright" or "super-bright" to describe their lights. These lights have a powerful beam that can actually harm a human eye.

The color and length wave

Wavelength and color are other characteristics of the LED lights. These lights have a wavelength range of very large and therefore may produce a number of different colors depending on the phosphorus compounds or otherwise added to the encapsulation. The human eye is more sensitive, however, to yellow, orange and red LED lights, probably why many come in these colors.

Efficiency

LEDs are solid state devices with no parts phones. This allows the average LED light to operate at approximately 100,000 hours at relatively normal temperature (25 degrees C). And unlike other incandescent bulbs, which can be activated and deactivated without suffering much wear.

All Together

The basic construction of an LED flashlight is quite simple. A simple closed circuit is used for loading the semiconductor diode, producing a bright cold light. These lights illuminate our way in the darkness, help us during cut power and signal for help. They are huge assets to a house, car or supply boxes.
