"No way!" on my friend Ellen's son Alex said when I mentioned it to him. "How can you live on a cruise ship and paid by it? "
"Yes way," I said, taking my granddaughter's phrase, "you sure can."
Alex was skeptical, but after reading my article about the work on a cruise and the fabulous bennies, (is that how to spell a word for benefits?) Was installed in it, using some of my suggestions, and during the summer holidays at the University, he worked on a cruise ship sailing the inside passage to Alaska.
I as a postcard sent from Juaneu. The writing side was covered with X and - with only Thanks, Alex. His mother showed me photos from your cell phone I could see it was a blast.
When he arrived home at the end of summer, came home and told me about his adventures and what he loved most about the job in one of the best cruise ships making summer travel in Alaska.
He smiled as he mentioned the party among the crew. Oh, and yes, did meet a young man who was a stewardess in one of the shore excursions. When I was in that port, he had an appointment. He believes it could lead to something, but is not sure. She is a student at a university in California. They have both signed on to back in the summer cruises next year.
Alex was hired to work in one of the casinos as a dealer. He said the training was easy and working hours were minimal. There were plenty of free time to enjoy the cruise and, of course, when the ship was in port, the casino was closed and he was in some of the shore excursions.
I looked at the pictures we took, heard their stories of interesting towns he visited like Skagway and Misty Fjords. Port liked best was Sitka, a Russian fishing village full of work style beautiful art and gold and silver icons of St. Michael's Russian Orthodox Cathedral.
Alex thanked me again and again to tell him about working on a cruise. His mother thanked me for telling him because not only get paid, but was able to save your money. All living expenses were free while he was on board.
Do you think that working on a cruise is for you? The first thing to check is the types of jobs available. To see if any of them fit.
It could really be a dream come true. Maybe someday you'll thank me too.
Check it out.
