Can you take the water tank of the Camelbak backpack and only use it as a normal backpack?

I've never gone hiking or intense thing, and do not intend to use my Camelbak backpack for those activities only going to use for school and conduct everyday objects, but my question is whether or not it can only draw water from the bladder side, making it like a normal backpack. I found a Camelbak that I really like it and want to buy, so therefore I am asking.

the camel is nice. but his pain to fill. The only good thing is that the more u drink the lighter it is. or it can remove the part of the bladder water.
